Pet food banks can be found throughout Ohio. Their purpose is to help ensure that pets and free-roaming animals in our communities do not go hungry. They help pet parents keep their pets even during difficult financial times which many people are currently experiencing. They also help ensure that people do not have to share their own meals with their pets and sacrifice their own nutrition and hunger. Food banks are always looking for donations to keep their stock full. If you aren’t in need of help, perhaps you will think about offering help. The more help these organizations receive, the more animals they can help.

If your family is currently enrolled in a human food assistance program, check there first about potential pet food assistance. Some food banks offer pet food assistance as available to their current clients.  It is also advised to contact your local animal shelter to see if they can help or have local resources to refer you to.

A Call Fur Help is happy to announce our new program, Scottie’s House. Thanks to a partnership with the North East Ohio Correction Center (NEOCC), we are now able to provide doghouses for pets in need. Residents of the prison, located in Youngstown, will build the houses as part of a vocational program. This program helps pets who currently have no or inadequate shelter while providing incarcerated individuals with the opportunity to learn new skills.

If you know of a situation where a dog doesn’t have proper shelter, please let the owners know about our program. They can give us a call or text at 330-550-5953, send an email to acallfurhelp@gmail.com, or send us a message at facebook.com/acallfurhelpinc.
